A recent meta-analysis in the Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that cinnamon may have a positive effect on blood sugar control. The researchers found that fasting blood glucose levels were lower among those regularly consuming cinnamon. The doses of cinnamon ranged from 1 to 6 grams which is between 1/4 and 1.5 teaspoons per day for up to 4 months.

These results suggest that short term usage of cinnamon may lower the glycemic index in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
